Your child's body is constantly growing, adapting, and developing — and their nervous system is directing all of it. When spinal misalignments interfere with that process, it can show up in ways you might not expect: colic, ear infections, trouble sleeping, digestive issues, difficulty focusing, and more.
At New Beginnings Chiropractic, we provide gentle, specialized chiropractic care for infants, children, and teens in Wichita. Dr. Ashley Thompson is the only ICPA-certified chiropractor in the Wichita area, holding the CACCP — a pediatric certification requiring 200+ hours of advanced training, two research projects, and a rigorous exam. With over 7,000 families served since 2006, pediatric care isn't a side offering here. It's what we do.
Parents bring their kids to us because we take the time to listen, explain, and earn their trust — and their child's trust. Our office is designed to feel welcoming for little ones, and our adjustments are so gentle that most babies sleep right through them.
Every child who walks (or is carried) through our doors receives individualized care based on their age, developmental stage, and specific needs. We don't use a one-size-fits-all approach because no two kids are the same.
Your child's spine protects the spinal cord — the primary highway between their brain and the rest of their body. When vertebrae are misaligned (what chiropractors call subluxation), it can disrupt the nerve signals that control everything from digestion and immune function to sleep and behavior.
These misalignments can happen during birth, from falls and tumbles during early development, or from the postural demands of school and screen time. Pediatric chiropractic care identifies and corrects these issues gently, supporting your child's nervous system so their body can grow and function the way it's designed to.
The birth process — even an uncomplicated one — places significant physical stress on a baby's spine and nervous system. Many of the issues parents see in newborns, like difficulty latching, excessive fussiness, and reflux, can be connected to tension patterns that developed during labor and delivery.
We see babies as young as a few days old. Adjustments for infants use no more pressure than you'd use to test the ripeness of a tomato.
As kids grow, the demands on their bodies change. School-age children deal with heavy backpacks, sports, screen time, and the physical and emotional stress of growing up. Teens face additional challenges with posture, hormonal changes, and mental health.
Chiropractic care supports kids and teens through each stage — helping with focus, immune health, sleep, behavior, and overall well-being.

Pediatric visits are calm, kid-friendly, and never rushed. We start with a thorough assessment of your child's spine, posture, and movement patterns. For babies, this includes checking for tension from birth, feeding patterns, and developmental milestones.
Adjustments are gentle, age-appropriate, and tailored to your child. We take the time to explain everything we're doing and why — because when parents understand the care, they feel confident in it.
Is chiropractic safe for babies and children?
Yes. Pediatric chiropractic is extremely gentle. For infants, we use fingertip pressure lighter than what you'd use to check a peach. Dr. Ashley holds the CACCP certification — the most advanced pediatric credential through the ICPA — and has been caring for children since 2006.
At what age can a child see a chiropractor?
We see babies within their first days of life. There's no minimum age — in fact, early assessment is often the most impactful.
How gentle are pediatric adjustments?
Very. Infant adjustments use light fingertip pressure. For older children and teens, we use a range of gentle techniques appropriate for their size and developmental stage.
What conditions can pediatric chiropractic help with?
Common reasons parents bring their children include colic, reflux, ear infections, tongue tie, torticollis, sleep issues, constipation, focus and behavior challenges, and general wellness support.
Do your doctors have specialized pediatric training?
Dr. Ashley Thompson holds the CACCP through the ICPA — requiring 200+ hours of post-graduate pediatric training — and is the only chiropractor in Wichita with this certification. All doctors are Webster Certified.
